If you're fortunate (or unfortunate as the case sometimes is) to be a Qwest DSL user with an M1000 DSL modem and you don't currently have Wi-Fi in your home, there is an excellent upgrade option for around $30 that works very well and is one of the few upgrades I've ever seen that quite literally takes a few seconds to do.
On the top of your M1000 you will see an opening with what appears to be 2 USB ports. Mine has a sticker in it that says they are not USB ports and that damage will be caused by using them as such. This is the wireless expansion spot and in it you can put in the wireless upgrade module manufactured by actiontec.
After receiving this and ripping open the packaging, I simply unplugged the power from my M1000, plugged this into the top and plugged the power back in. 2 minutes later, my laptop saw the access point and after entering the WEP key printed on the side of the M1000, I was up and running wirelessly. It couldn't possibly be cheaper or easier.
